Jor’Dan Armstrong is a 28-year-old native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and under the leadership of Dr. Calvin N. Emery (Times of Refreshing World Outreach Ministries). Armstrong is an outstanding vocalist and percussionist who has been performing since the age of five. Armstrong later formed a business partnership with his long-time friend and producer, Jeshua “TedyP” Williams to begin creating some of the most phenomenal music ever heard in the gospel genre. Armstrong’s debut album, “Champion,” was released in November 2009 to outstanding reviews. This award nominated album has been acclaimed as an instant classic. “Champion” has also garnered international attention by being released in December 2010 through an exclusive Japanese distribution partnership with Swanky Records.
Armstrong strives to gain attention with his innovative sound and change lives with the message of salvation. People have taken notice and bestowed accolades. Jor’Dan Armstrong received the 2010 En Sound Music Award for Best Male Urban Artist, and his hit song, “Drive Me Crazy,” was nominated for a 2010 En Sound Music Award for Best Urban Gospel Song. Also, Citadel Broadcasting’s KXQL named him one of the “Best Dressed Men in Baton Rouge” for 2010. His love for fashion will become more evident to the masses as he readies his clothing and accessories line, 85 Live Clothing, which will officially be released soon.
The 2012 Awards season brought Armstrong much attention. He was named as the 2012 DJ Choice Awards’ Male Vocalist of the Year. Armstrong was also a multiple 2012 En Sound Music Award Nominee. He was nominated for Best Urban Male Artist, Male Vocalist of the Year, his hit single, “Tropicana,” as Best Urban Song and his cover to Usher’s “Without You” as Best Christian Dance Song. He was also nominated for three 2012 Crunk 4 Christ Awards as Rhythm and Praise Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and “Drive Me Crazy” as Song of the Year.
Armstrong continues to expand his musical prowess by again joining forces with TedyP along with songwriter, Franchise Tief to form the production team “The Good Guys.” Together, they began writing and producing songs for musical acts across the United States, namely Jor’Dan Armstrong’s highly anticipated new album, Stronger, which was released on September 25, 2012. The entire album stands as a narrative of a yearning for a closer relationship with God and a deeper understanding of life and spirituality. Despite the serious and relevant nature of the subjects discussed on the album, Armstrong’s music is still presented in a youthful, soulful and spirited manner. This is evident with the leaked single, “Swag,” which was released in August 2011. The song immediately gained support from program directors, DJ’s and numerous record pools throughout the country. He also released a digital download mixtape entitled, Jesus, Fashion and Beatz on January 24, 2012 to an overwhelming response. The mixtape received over 10,000 downloads in one week.
Armstrong’s music continues to gain attention and offer a fresh perspective to many who have not been interested in gospel music before.
