Jessica Holtby is a Canadian singer/songwriter of Jamaican decent. Born in British Columbia to a musical family, Jessica began making music at a young age, developing herself as an artist by singing in church and performing at various functions and cafés around her small hometown of Clearwater. After high school, she moved to Edmonton where she eventually studied languages in university (mainly French). Jessica began challenging herself to write songs in French while living in the south of France for close to a year. Jessica explores a few different avenues when it comes to genres. Having grown up listening to mainly jazz (as well as some reggae, pop, soul and rock), Jessica performs mostly in a jazz/folk/blues style, in English and in French. Recently, however, Jessica has added pop/reggae to the list, after meeting well-known Jamaican reggae producer Kemar “Flava” McGregor, who invited her to record with him in Kingston. The two have already begun to work on Jessica’s debut solo album, to be released later this year. Their first single, “Keep It a Secret”, is now available on iTunes.
