Rajasi is an indie rock band hailing from Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. Their music is an original style of groove pop rock with an eclectic universal twist. The songs are singable and fun with great harmonies. The lyrics aspire toward an awareness of conscious music and the effect on the listener, but lets face it some of the are tunes are really just some good hard rock! Others that are more to appeal to the rock radio demo-graph seem to be having some success on local radio. But the real diversity in this band is when they break into their root style of mantra rock dance and kirtan. The live show is very energizing, with great vocal layers and harmonies between the brothers, solid rhythms with some hot lead guitar solos, pounding bass, and drum solo and reggae music too! After all the band name does mean "in passion", living true to themselves and be yourself has always been a motto to the band. Rajasi has built a reputable catalogue of songs that get people moving and thinking in an uplifting manner. With the release of several albums in the past 10 years the fan base and popularity has grown and the band has proven its dedication to the long run. An appreciation of the nature, attitude, and culture of this band has provided some great highlights for Rajasi, including television and radio appearances, an induction to The Library and Archives of Canada, and sharing the stage with some of Canada's finest bands like April Wine, The Trews, Thornley, Staggered Crossing, Inward Eye and more. The leader of the group is singer songwritter Nitai Hanna and he is closley accompanied by brother Tulasi Hanna. They have been collaborating their music and lyrics together since the beginning of Rajasi in the mid 90's. As self taught musicians the music has always been original and diverse. Several very talented friends have come and gone as members of the band also offering their original influences. This band has some influence related to spiritual teachings from India as well. The boys were raised as devotees of Krishna following their parents radical move from hippies to spiritual life. the opportunity was prevelent in the late 60's with bands like the Beatles chanting Hare Krishna exposing higher love. It would be especially John Lennon and even more George Harrison that becomes a motivator to chant Hare Krishna and be happy. Well seems the tradition continues years later with Rajasi as the chanting is included in their catalogue of performances. The main goal for Rajasi is to inject some good vibrations into peoples hearts and to uplift and inspire.
