Katia Tiutiunnik Composer / Bio

Katia Tiutiunnik is currently an Honorary Research Affiliate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the University of Sydney and Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Music, UiTM, Shah Alam. Her music has been performed in Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Russia, Serbia, the UK and the USA.

Tiutiunnik has lectured in Australia, Italy, Russia and the United States. She was the first Australian composer to have been appointed visiting scholar at Columbia University, New York and was also a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University, where she earned her Ph.D. in 2003. Tiutiunnik also holds the highest Italian postgraduate title available in composition, from the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome, where she studied with Franco Donatoni, in addition to a B.MUS from Sydney Conservatorium, where she was awarded all three of their composition prizes.

Tiutiunnik's works are held in several international libraries, including the Bodleian Library at Oxford University, Harvard College Library, the National Library of Australia and the Wiener Music Library at Columbia University.

Her compositions have been published in Italy and broadcast in Australia, Bulgaria,Jordan, Russia and the USA. Furthermore, a revised version of her Ph.D. dissertation was published in 2009 and released internationally.

Tiutiunnik has been the recipient of numerous national and international grants, commissions and other sponsorship, from both the government and private sector.
