ZerO IllusionS - Biography
Zero Illusions was formed in 2004 and has since made quite an impression in the Swedish Metal Community as a strong live act with gigs on major festivals (Metaltown, Sweden Rock and Rockhimlen) as well as on the smaller club scenes.
Zero Illusions was called ”a new Swedish hope” in Sweden Rock Magazine when they released ”Enter Eternity” in 2008. References such as Dream Theatre, Saxon and Iron Maiden were often mentioned in reviews.
The next record, called ”Oblivion”, was released in 2011 and was followed by a club tour in Sweden. Oblivion was recorded and produced by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond) and this album revealed a substantially heavier sound which, e.g., resulted in top reviews in German media.
The music is best described as a crossroad where Nevermore mates with Uriah Heep and consists of a mix of influences from early 70's and in to the present. With some odd time signatures, heavy guitar riffs, melodic vocals and strong choruses Zero Illusions claims its own place in the metal genre.
In early 2013 Zero Illusions, once again, entered Andy LaRocque's studio for recording and mixing of new songs. The latest changes in line-up, including bass player Vicky Larsson (ex-Ice Age, Snowy Shaw band etc) and second guitar player Jörgen Svensson (ex-Twilight, ex-Mayfair), have resulted in a far heavier sound then ever before heard from the ZI-camp! This new material is slated for the late fall/early winter of 2013 and the band now aims to reach a wider audience without compromising with the already paved path.
