Shira does not take "no" for an answer. That's why when Warped Tour producer Kevin Lyman told Shira to wait a year before presenting her all-girl stage platform for female talent, she showed up anyway in her pink RV and played across from the skate ramp. After crashing the tour to a rousing crowd response and being invited on tour for the rest of the summer, Shira came back the following year with a pink box truck named the "Shiragirl Stage" and hosted over 200 female-fronted bands- including Paramore on their first Warped run. The following year Joan Jett graced the stage and played guitar as Shira sang "Bad Reputation." Shira landed an MTV "Warpie Award" and a spot in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Warped Time Capsule for her groundbreaking work to promote women in music.
After rocking many stages with her all-girl band Shiragirl, including support slots for Rancid, NOFX, Juliette Lewis, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Joan Jett herself- as well as spots on the Real World Brooklyn, Warped Tour 2010 Compilation ("Fight for It") Fuse TV ("Sick Day" music video), and at Conquer Entertainment arena performances for over 25,000 people- Shira realized it was time to break out in a new direction. Shira and drummer/musical director Rainey P teamed up with hip-hop superproducer Swizz Beatz on "Stomp it Out," a song for breast cancer awareness, featuring Lil Wayne. This summer, Shira returned to Warped Tour 2011 with a new musical sound that highlights her background as a dancer and an in-your-face theatrical performer. Pulsing beats and melodic synth are accompanied with the familiar squeels of electric guitar that are engraved in Shira's punk-rock roots. Journalists and fans compare Shira's energetic onstage persona to Gwen Stefani, Madonna, and Pink. You won't want to miss this show, complete with song, dance and spectacle. Plan on dancing along: you've been warned, Shira won't take no for an answer, so in Shira's words, "don't try to fight it... you're gonna like it."
