Rosa Volpini / Bio

Born in Madrid (Spain), I began my carrier as singer in the folk group "Sabor Añejo" which won a first price in the folk music festival of Arosa resulting in my first recording. I studied at the Madrid Conservatory of Music and at the Singing Higher School "Escuela Superior de Canto" in Madrid. As part of the choir in the National Theatre "La Zarzuela" I performed together with Monserrat Caballé, Plácido Domingo and José Carreras among others. Afterwards I changed my musical direction and I was engaged in pop-rock and funky-jazz bands touring through Spain. After arriving in Germany I took part in the "Jazz Fest München" with a latin-jazz formation and started playing Jazz & Latin. At present I'm active in the Munich Latin & Jazz scene and sings as soloist with variable ensemble in different languages (english, german, french, spanish, portuguese, italian).
I perform two main programs: Jazz meets Soul with the Rosa Volpini Trio and Spanish Music meets Jazz, which is a fusion of latin rhythms and spanish pop with a breeze of jazz and a pinch of flamenco. I have participated in several recordings both in Spain and in Germany. My first self-produced CD-Album "Demasiado Corazón" appeared December 2011 and the second CD "Undersigned: Jazz" was published on February 2013.
Together with the german composer Gernot Rothenbach we created "Estela del Sur", a latin-pop-disco project
As songwriter my song "Bandidos" (R. Volpini / G. Rothenbach) was semifinalist of the International Songwriting Competition 2012/2013 (over 20000 participating songs). The song "Confuso Corazón" was semifinalist of the edition 2013/2014.
