This journey started in 1978 in Edmonton, Alberta - a purely Canadian boy born in the heart of the "big city". Or so my small town roots would have me believe before landing in places like Vancouver. Growing up in semi-rural Camrose instilled me with a sense of community, a no nonsense appraoch to life and its challenges. And so with music. I was bitten by the bug as a child and never got over the fever. Singing, sketching, painting, acting and writing lent me a level of introspection I don't think is shared by any other inclination. University not only gave me a degree (BA English/Drama/Education) but more importantly introduced me to likeminded individuals. Always one to observe first and act second I was able to see my surroundings in a different light than most peers. I've found music to be the best avenue with which to solidify and express my take on life and human condition. Few words need to be spoken when accompanied by the right melody. Complex emotion can be relaid to the listener in exquisite detail without a single lyric. Music erases borders and transcends language. My main goal is to connect on a personal level with my audience so as to teach, and learn from others. To engage in symbiotic growth. It is tangible, malliable, purely personal and entirely universal. No genres, no sounds, no influences are off the table. Limited derivation with overt homage to influence. I try to expose myself to everything available. Connection and collaboration is always the goal. Community before pocketbook. Slow, steady, sustainable growth. Tapping into minds and melodies for the sake of the experience. What emerges from the ether is usually more compelling than what is painstakingly crafted (that's not to say that sloppiness is ever desired). Everything in the cosmos emits a wave, a tone, a frequency, a vibration, a melody of its own. To act as a transmitter or as a receiver is a wonderful experience and for me, ultimately fulfilling.
