Brian Smith / Bio

Well equipped drummer with 30 years experience available for band needing full time drummer or just occasional fill in work. I have a degree and experience in recording engineering and also in marketing and running successful small business enterprises. Major influences include Foo Fighters, Green Day, Velvet Revolver, Judas Priest, Todd Rundgren, American HiFi, Pat Travers, Simple Plan, Jimmy Eat World, Sugar Ray, Hoobastank, etc. I'm all about dynamics, melody, getting the right groove and spending the time needed to get the song and vocals right. I'm hoping for a schedule that would include 4-8 practices and one or two well-planned and marketed gigs per month. I'm not looking to conquer the world. Western NC with an occasional 100 mile road trip would be fine. I'm based just outside Asheville and have secure rehearsal and recording space, and the quality equipment needed to rehearse a band including a ProSonus Studio Live 24-4-2, Mackie powered PA, mics, DIs, snake, stands, IEM system, and the really important stuff like a frig and seating (byob). I'm looking for talented musicians who have invested in decent instruments & equipment, know how to stay in tune and have taken the time to learn how to work their electronics (like tap echo) and get decent sounds. I'll do covers, worthy originals or both. Please, no big hair 80's rock, death metal (although pop metal like Judas Priest would be great!), solid-state distortion, chain-smokers, drugs, or screaming. I'm looking for hummable melodies, great hooks, consistent attendance at rehearsals and players with common sense that want to have fun playing great music. bsmith@clearsonic.com. Let's do it!
