Imagine if Adele, Patty Griffin and Iris Dement formed a blues trio...these three powerhouse vocalists are unique lead singers who combine to form a beautifully blended sound. Better yet, they're backed by an energetic, technically skilled, and soulful blues band who put on one heck of a show!
No Good Sister, a swingin' blues/honky tonk band from Philly, fronted by wailing 3 part female vocals. The ladies in the band include Meaghan Kyle (A Fistful of Sugar, Shane Dodd, Christie Lenee Project), Jess McDowell (also from A Fistful of Sugar, The Wounded Healers and The Brad Hinton Band) and Maren Coleman Sharrow, a beautiful vocalist new to the Philadelphia music scene from Detroit.
The rest of the band is comprised of five Philly favorite fellas: Anam Owili-Eger on keys (Up the Chain, Ryan Tennis Clubhouse Band, The Living Sample, Puzzlebox, among MANY others); Frank Velardo - guitar (The Ardvark Felon); Chad Brown - drums (West Philadelphia Orchestra, Perseverence Jazz Band); Jonathan Davenport - upright bass (Perseverence Jazz Band); and Ansel Barnum on harmonica, who's just so darn awesome he sits in with just about everybody in town :)
Their first gig was in December 2012 at Milkboy Philly to over 100 people, then January 2013 brought gigs at Silk City, World Cafe Live at The Queen, and The Four Seasons. While promoting their gig at World Cafe Live's open mic, they won for that evening's contest, not even knowing there was one!
Only having played together for 5 months, they've continued to book gigs at Fergie's Pub, Tin Angel, Underground Arts, Philadelphia Beer Week Events, festivals, and private events.
Influences include Bonnie Raitt, Howlin' Wolf, Connie Francis, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Muddy Waters, Patty Griffin.... They just wanna rock your socks and mend your broken hearts.
