Tyler Hughes brings the spirit of Old Timey Appalachian music to life throughout the regions of Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina. Drawing inspiration from musical predecessors such as the Carter Family of Maces Springs, VA and banjoists such as Scott Boatright, Buell Kazee, and Dock Boggs, he brings forth traditional folk songs that once thrived in the mountains throughout the early portion of the twentieth century. He currently performs with bands all across the region including banjoist for the Empty Bottle String Band of Johnson City. HE also serves as a multi-instrumentalist for East Tennessee State University's Old Time Pride Band. When residing in his home town of Big Stone Gap, VA, he can be seen playing with family friends in The Generation Gap. Hughes, recently released his first album, "Wise County Jail" which can be purchased at several locations across the region, including The Post and Heartwood in Abingdon, VA.
