Signalfire / Bio

The epic group that has brought you studio recordings from the closet leaking all over the internet for the past few years is now taking a step into into the public domain! The group, which originally consisted of the 3 Hansen brothers and their cousin Wes Nelson(Dub Nelly), is on the verge of releasing their first professionally produced full-length LP Don't Trust This Storm. The LP will consist of music produced by the original 4, although the group has temporarily lost Chris and Mark due to their missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in San Diego and Santiago, Chile, respectively.

Signalfire began in basement jam sessions(as all bands do), and developed into a group called Cloud Nine, a strictly studio band consisting of the original 4(Chris, Mark, Adam, and Dub Nelly). The band managed to record a self produced and self titled LP in the spring of 2006 which produced hit the hits American Idle, The Monster Song, and Two Cents Short. Over the course of the summer of 2006, the group changed its name to Eight The Flume, and began work on a studio album of the same name. A show was played where new songs from the intended album were played, including the hits 1 AM and Step Into The Spotlight, although the work produced over that summer was never worthy enough to produce the album.

After this period Eight The Flume, as they were currently known as, went into a brief hiatus. During this time various unproductive side projects from all 4 members went on. When the hiatus ended in early 2007, the band took on a new name, Rebel PC. Over the course of 2007 the band stuck to the drawing board to devise a new sound, and also made a self-produced 25 minute documentary. By the end of the 2007 the band had been at the drawing board for quite long enough, and made the decision to take to the studio to record a killer full-length LP.

In early 2008, the band began recording Don't Trust This Storm, and took on the name Signalfire. Twenty months later, the band had nearly finished production.

Eldest member Chris then left for San Diego for two years on his mission, and so the chain reaction of missions commenced for the Hansen brothers. Mark left for Chile in 2009, and for Adam, it was Calgary, Alberta in 2010. During the mismatch of homebound Signalfire members, post-production became delayed on the debut attempt of "Don't Trust This Storm", and then the band and project were halted due to intense, grueling higher education(college). The Hansen brothers were all abroad on missions or in Provo at BYU from 2008 until, well, June of 2012, when the highly anticipated arrival Adam will happen. Meanwhile, Wes has been at Stonehill College in Massachusetts since 2009, and the band was essentially abandoned, summoning Signalfire to an indefinite hiatus which was never truly declared, but slowly hiatus-like symptoms accrued over the 2 to 3 year period, although with talks, whispers, murmurs, and hopes of a reuniting.

Finally the release of the long forgotten, highly anticipated debut release of Signalfire, "Don't Trust This Storm", will be happening this summer to kick off the festivities.

And, now that Adam is arriving home in the matter of a couple of months, Mark, Chris, and Wes have devised 3 years of inspiration-driven, intellectually infused, classy music, that is ripe and prime for the pickin'. Not to mention, Adam's probably gonna bring back some FRESH new inspiration for writing, too.

So yea basically we haven't recorded in 3 years, but we've still been songwriting, and clearly our writing, vocals, and musicianship have improved over the three year period, and we've got WAY too much to record this summer already. So yea, now that we have all this material, probably way too much to handle for recording in one summer, we're going back into the studio. Safe bet, Signalfire's back, and better than ever.
