Dennis Callanta / Bio

Yes I have taken some different directions on my music. Being I have developed health issues related to my service in the Vietnam War. I can no longer perform in a band atmosphere so I've taken to the studio and started recording some of the songs I've always wanted to play but, was not convenient for the times. I'm mixing and doing many genres from Doo Wop to Soft Rock and Country. Not only that but I'm doing this as a one man band format. So far I had great success as to bringing fans to Reverbnation. Many being from the Baby Boomer Generation but, I'm finding many younger fans that can appreciate the sound from before they were even born. I've been leaving links from my FB page on Throwback Thursdays and to my surprise, my ranking has risen from that action. I still love the Blues but being I played the high energy stuff, I can no longer take that to the stage. I just hope you enjoy hearing these golden oldies and others as much as I have enjoyed recording them. I have also noticed that though my fan base isn't growing all that fast, many of my current fans are returning to hear the new material and I thank you for that and as usual, all recordings on this site are Download Free, covers and originals.....D
If you like your blues with with a little hot sauce yer gonna love this band. A group of musicians that get together to have fun and provide high energy blues that you can dance to. For more info on the band and its individuals head on over to our other website at www.Facebook.com/DCRidersBand and www.Myspace.com/DCRiders. Take a dose o' dis for what ails ya. "I'm not their leader, I'm with them. I may walk a little faster but we all just happen to be headed in the same direction...D"

“D” has been a Bay Area musician since the mid ‘60’s. It all started when his father bought him a Kay flat top at the age of 10. In the '70's he expanded his talents to include the Keyboards. He has played in the Bay Area and beyond since the ‘60’s to include the well known Classics, Mad Hatters, and Colusa Band. The ‘80’s found him returning to “take care of business” in the Army (again). Returning to music in the ‘90’s and on his own recording 2 CD’s of his own original works. He is now partially settled in Utah but with roots still deeply entrenched in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Having flown below the radar for decades, he (along with his fellow DC Riders) started gaining notoriety and carrying the moniker of the "Good At Bein' Bad" band. With new material and vocals you can hear and understand and guitar leads as clean and/or dirty as they need to be and in a progressive moving band you’ll find them in the recording studio but always yearning to be out giggin’. “ I know ya gotta record if ya want to get your music to the masses, but giggin’, that’s what it’s all about…D”

His style? “D” says, “I ain’t got no style. I play what I feel at that moment. ” A song that may be put down on a CD today may sound similar to, or very different tomorrow. It all depends on who he’s playing with, and the general mood of the evening but, it won’t ever be dull and without excitement. He can lay down dirty old blues, Texas influenced blues, blues rock, and some very funky blues but, they’re all the blues. "I'm not their leader. We're all heading in the same direction I just may walk a little faster....."

His main Axes and Amp’s are the Custom Ernie Ball Silhouette Special, Carvin DC400C, linked to a Fender CyberTwin.

"A special thanks to those that have stood behind me and supported me in my musical endeavors. You know who you are....D "
