“There’s no doubt about it — one of the most striking new talents I’ve heard thus far this year is Denton singer-songwriter Kaela Sinclair. Gifted with a sultry soprano and capable of crafting songs full of ambition and cinematic scope, the 23-year-old Sinclair, will release her debut album, Sun & Mirror, on Oct. 8. Mirror is a lush, richly textured piece of work brimming with ambition and suffused with a dark beauty. In short, one of the best albums to emerge from the DFW area thus far in 2013.”
- Preston Jones, DFW.com (Sep 24, 2013)
Kaela Sinclair is a 23 year indie musician from Denton, TX. After working with acclaimed drummer and producer McKenzie Smith (Midlake, Regina Spektor, St. Vincent) she has released her debut LP, Sun & Mirror, and received local acclaim and the immediate attention of the press.
The album features an all-star team out of Denton. Strings were recorded by Buffi Jacobs (Polyphonic Spree), Daniel Hart (Broken Social Scene, St. Vincent, Dark Rooms), and Fiona Brice (Placebo, Kanye West). Guitarist Joey McClellan (The Fieros, Midlake) and Jesse Chandler (Midlake) also graced the album.
"Though this marks the debut for Denton newcomer Kaela Sinclair, it's got all the ingredients to help the 23-year-old become the Little D's next big thing."
-Cory Graves, Central Track (Sep 26, 2013)
With radio play of her first single, Original Sin, on KERA 91.7, The Paul Slavens Show, 102.1 The Edge, Deep Ellum Radio, and DentonRadio, Sinclair's music is quickly becoming an established part of the North Texas indie music scene.
Sinclair's music has been compared to indie rock songstresses like Feist, Sia, Florence Welch, and Bat For Lashes.
"Denton’s Kaela Sinclair possesses a honeyed voice akin to those of Regina Spektor and Sarah Jaffe."
