3Guesses / Bio

From the school grounds of Nelson, and then Hataitai, Miramar and Raumati Beach in New Zealand, through the experiences of 'The Naked Lunch Band', my first band named after Old Bull Lee, William Burroughs, at Kapiti College, NZ, (1973-1976) threw to the 3Guesses Band, life and things in general have always been an excitement, an adventure... perhaps I had a mis-spent childhood... to... now, 2009, Wairarapa, NZ based... the MP3's here are some of the history of the sound... the videos available are of some more recent performances live (which are here because of audio qualities, rather than visual, so don't worry about that, it's the songs that are what I want you to hear, I love the videos anyway though, had a very special camera-person...) ... enjoy... enjoy in love... enjoy with love... A little bit of info about the songs above; Track 1. 'Drop Me Off' by ECF, 1984, recorded at Marmalade Studios, Wellington. Ian 'Tex Pistol' Morris (from The Dudes), Engineer/ Producer; ECF being; Ljinon bass, guitars/ vocals, Chris Mason guitars, and DX Rhythms, drums... This is not the original recording done by ECF. That recording in 1983 which debuted at no.14 in the NZ Top20 in October of that year was recorded at Mascot Studios, Christchurch, Engineered/ Produced by Steve Crane. (ECF being; Chris Mason vocals, Ljinon bass, Brent 'Bratus' Fraser drums and Shayne O'Neill guitar)... Track 2. 'Catching a Wave', 3Guesses Live, recorded live at Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton. Engineer Toby Mills (Noise Productions, Wairarapa); Ljinon lead guitar/ vocals, Robbie drums, backing vocal, Christine bass, Dave guitar.... (added, November 2009)... Track 3. 'I Call You' by 3Guesses, 1988, recorded at Audio Access Studios, Christchurch, Shayne O'Neill, Engineer/ Producer; 3Guesses being; Ljinon bass/ vocals, Shayne O'Neill guitar and Eric Andriod/ backing vocals, drums... This song off the 2007 CD Sticks'nStones album by 3Guesses... Track 4. 'Tribal War' by EnCanMA, 1985, recorded at NightShift Studios, Christchurch, Arnie van Bussel, Engineer/ Producer; EnCanMA being; Ljinon guitars/ vocals, Floyd Rudolph drums/ backing vocals and Trent Revell bass. (This was recorded while Ljinon was on the ECF 'Finale' Tour, and in Christchurch, in 1985). Initially EnCanMA (1983 when first formed in Auckland, NZ), had been; Ljinon, guitars/ vocals, Vince Pinker bass, (whom later played for The Gordons), & Bevan Sweeney drums, (whom later played for Children's Hour & Headless Chickens)... This song from 1987 Cassette release by Blue Factory Distributions... Track 5. 'Changing Modern Man' by 3Guesses, 1988, recorded at Audio Access Studios, Christchurch, Shayne O'Neill, Engineer/ Producer. 3Guesses being Eric Andriod drums/ vocals, Shayne O'Neill bass and Ljinon guitars/ backing vocals... Track 6. A 3Guesses fun rehash of ECF's 'Drop Me Off' live, Ljinon guitar/ vocals, Robbie Keating drums, David Christopher guitar and Christine Williams bass, recorded in Mauriceville, Wairarapa, via mobile studio...
