Live Fast, Rock Hard \m/
I walked into a bar two years ago and stumbled upon a band
Making my way through the assembled throng of freaks, hookers and addicts, overcome by the smell of booze, sweat, hairspray and perfume- the band were on stage.
It was the kind of atmosphere where anything could happen- Chaos, Loud, Colourful and above all powerful. What I was witnessing was a band in collapse.
“Who are they?....I asked .....”Fallen Mafia” ...came the reply. “They’ve got a stand in bass player and the singer’s quitting after this gig”
Yet, despite being sloppy as hell and not together, the band had something. They played fast hard Rock n Roll, they had attitude and above all some killer tunes. By the end of the gig the atmosphere had turned ugly with the band playing at a frenetic pace, whipping the audience into a frenzy- fights broke out and that was the end of that....or so I thought.
“We’ve got a new line-up” announced guitarist Chris Johnson “You should check us out” ...........
The new line up gigged throughout the NE building up a following, building a solid reputation as Hi energy Rock with a touch of Glam. The five piece line up which included Chris’s brother David on guitar included the charismatic Wild Child Hannah Elizabeth Neil on vocals. The band was augmented by bass player Andy Milburn and Drummer Keiran Cant.
The band “Brought the Party” to where ever they played, attracting a wider audience through playing “anywhere & everywhere”...however controversy was never too far away when the Mafia played. After playing a sell out show Hannah collapsed and was rushed to hospital after Police and Emergency Services were called. The band lived their life through the songs “Call on The Doctor” being a classic example.
The band concentrated on writing and recording, however, fate was to intervene with the departure of David Jingo Johnson to join fellow rockers “Falling Red” and Drummer Kieran moving on.
Chris was determined to keep the Mafia going, enlisting the powerhouse drumming of Matty Wilson. The Band recorded and rehearsed as a 4 piece, unleashing an Energy and brutality never heard before.
The new line up came back a lot stronger, polished and dangerous. The band were building up a reputation with anthemic songs such as “Leather, Lipstick, Cigarettes” and “Stand Up”
When the band emerged from White Wolf Recording Studios in Spring 2012, the sound was a lot different to the band two years earlier. The band manage to capture the driving force of their hi energy Rock n Roll with the balance of the Climatic Ballad “The Story Ends” heralding an astounding vocal performance by Hannah Elizabeth Neill.
2012 is going to be very busy for Fallen Mafia an EP Release, Video and Tour and then recording their debut album towards the end of the year.
