The Bridgebuilders are part of a new wave of folk-inspired musicians putting their own stamp on traditional styles. The five original members formed together in 2007 with a shared desire to interpret traditional Celtic and American folk music in their own unique style, and quickly began peforming at open mic nights and Battle of the Band competitions.
As months passed, its members' sensibilities manifested themselves. Transcending the boundaries of traditional Celtic music, the Bridgebuilders began working out their trademark sound, the energetic and musical interaction between six players with years of experience playing together, lending to tunes that are both danceable and listenable. Before too long, the Bridgebuilders incorporated influences from bluegrass, jazz, roots blues, and 20th century classical music, exciting crowds up and down the East Coast from Maryland to Maine and causing the outbreak of an embarrassing number of dance parties.
The combined force of the band is capable of a wide range of intricate musical interplay, artfully blending tight arrangements with very loose, improvisational sections, creating a show that is both impressive in its preparedness as well as the exact opposite, in the band's live creativity and venturesome spirit.
The Bridgebuilders have set themselves apart from other folk-inspired acts in the Boston area, with compositions ranging from extremely loud and fast, all the way to slow and tranquil, with every range of color and emotion in between. Throughout their five years as a band, they have persisted in demonstrating their unique vision of what happens when six close friends with wild, energetic personalities combine and collaborate to create something greater than any single one could do.
The Bridgebuilders are a party time band because they're all party time guys. I'm not a doctor, but I think that's pretty cool. And that's why you should consider telling the Bridgebuilders to play at your venue or event. Because we'll probably do it. And you'll probably have fun.
