Truth Before Treason started out as just four high school kids that wanted to jam. Back then we were a Black Sabbath cover band known as Bulletproof; we wrote a couple original songs but thought nothing of it. After about a year we wrote enough original material to almost fill an entire set and so we decided to transition into an original hard rock band named The Brutal Truth. Once we became The Brutal Truth, things started getting quite busy. We entered into many competitions and played for a lot of festivals and benefits. One of the more recognizable competitions was Launchpad Wisconsin and through their critique and our commitment we were able to polish our band into a must see, “rock your face off,” rock concert. Word started to get out about our band and a New York City based band called Brutal Truth was featured on the front page of decibel magazine. There was slight mix up at decibel magazine due to the bands’ names being so similar. Because of this, we decided it was time for a name change to avoid any confrontations. It was from then to now that we are known as Truth Before Treason. But our old name wasn’t just thrown out. We had an attachment to it and so we decided to record an EP Album at a La Crosse based studio and name the album “The Brutal Truth.” With the successful launch of our new EP we began to spread the word about our new name and our new sound. Things really started to look up as many booking agents started contacting us, but success was short lived. With college just weeks away and disputes within the band, we all went our separate ways. Truth Before Treason was no more. There were many attempts made to replace the lost member and reunite the band, but something was missing. The fans knew it and we knew it, Truth Before Treason wasn’t just a musical phenomena, it was a friendship. So, as it was meant to be, the original lineup returned - and it was back to the grindstone. The musical chemistry that was once felt between us had immediately returned. We were back - and better than ever. But we felt that we owed our fans something more. And so we took it upon ourselves to continually practice and improve every part of our performance - the songwriting, technical skills, stage presence, and more. Since then we have been working even harder to crash into new scenes, to spread our music, and to inspire audiences of all ages. We are Truth Before Treason and we’re coming to a town near you.
