Born in Montreal, PQ, back in 1950. My 1st musical influence came from seeing Elvis in Toronto in 1957, courtesy of my mother. Then, in 1964 i saw The Beatles. It was then that I decided I wanted to play music and perform. Spent the 60's singing Motown, Soul and transitioned into Bass during the Psychedelic era and throughout the 70's. I was the founder/bass player/ singer of a ZZTOP Tribute band (TRES HOMBRES) from 1984 til 2011..began writing in the 80's. Recorded my 1st CD in Virginia Bch, Va. and have recorded 5 subsequently.
I have toured throughout Canada (47 tours in Eastern Canada) with the Tribute band as well as many US tours (5 years) and a few over in Finland( 4 tours)
I toured my last CD "Chapter of Night" in the Southern USA in 2010 It is an American Civil War Retrospective.
I moved from Toronto out to the West Coast of BC in 2011 in reside their now.
Marek David started his musical career in 1987 after graduating
from the music program at Grant University. Working closely
with composer George Blondheim as a programmer and engineer,
Marek moved into Beta Sound Recorders in Edmonton, Alberta as
the chief engineer. After 10 years of working on a wide variety of
Alberta music and film projects, Marek moved to Los Angeles in
1997. Landing at Skip Saylor Recordings in Hollywood, Marek worked
with some of the biggest names in west coast rap and hip-hop
including Dr. Dre, Eminiem, Snoop Dogg and DJ Quik.
The year 2000 brought a change in venu and direction with a
move to Sound City in Van Nuys. A more rock focused studio, Sound
City saw Marek contributing to projects by Joan Osborne, Bruce
Cockburn, Ry Cooder and Queens of the Stone Age. Returning to
Canada in 2010,
Marek now calls Victoria, BC home, where he continues to write
music and produce recordings.
