Low down and dirty, that's the sound of MOJO RYZAN. No nonsense good old American rhythm and blues lay bare to the bone and built on a back line that is as tight as two coats of paint.
MOJO RYZAN was born in July 2011 when Marc Rosen / Bass and Fred Germano /Drums got together to start a project playing the music they both love, the BLUES. Very soon there where accompanied by Carl Rosetti / Harp and Michael Messmer / Vocal and Guitar who also greatly enjoys playing the blues.
MOJO RYZAN plays Uno, Monopoly, Poker, Lottery, and.... BLUES ....most of the time
Classically trained by Dave Demarco, I began playing late in life at age 52. After initially joining a rock band, I became a member of Otis, a local Blues band which I played with for several years. Blues comes from the heart, and I find it easy to "feel" the music. My influences range from Buddy Guy and Howlin Wolf, to Walter Trout, ZZ Tops and L'il Dave Thompson. Ever since I was a child, I loved music and now I have a home to pour my passion into, the blues and MOJO RYZAN!
Started playing drums in 1994, studying at the Baltimore Percussion Center under teacher Paul Genovese. He has since played in bands in the Harford County and Baltimore region (Soul Rebels, StoneSunz Band, the Harford-York Men’s Gospel Choir), playing a variety of styles including blues, rock, gospel and reggae. His influences are Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts, and the great Motown and Stax drummers.
Started to play the harp in the tender age of 13, most time he played the professional chromatic model harmonica. When he started playing he was inspired by the great master of the 1930's and 40's such as The Harmonica Rascals, Harmonicats. Larry Adler, and Leo Diamond, in his later years by Paul Butterfield, Steve Baker and Stevie Wonder. He plays jazz, pop, country, a wide variety of musical styles and love to play the Chromatic and the Blues Harp with MOJO RYZAN.
I started playing guitar and singing in bands “sometime around 25 years ago” . I learned to play primarily by listening to early British blues/rock guitarists and American blues players. My first intention was “ I’m here because the girls, this changed quickly in “I’m here for the beer”. But later I realized I’m doing it because I love to play the blues. I founded a Band in the 90 ‘s “ The Pacemakers” and gigged over 15 Years with this Band in Europe. Asking me to list my influences is too difficult – there are too many! Telling you who is influencing me right now – that’s easier; Albert Collins, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Walter Trout. After auditioning with many Bands in the Baltimore area I finally found my home with MOJO RYZAN. Great guys, great beer, great music...:)
