Alanna & Brianne are Canadian singer-songwriter twins from White Rock BC who turned 16 years old in March 2014. Performing an eclectic mix of guitar-based folk, country and new country, they have been earning accolades for their regular live performances in the Lower Mainland and beyond over the past three years. They have become regular outdoor performers at Vancouver ’s Granville Island as part of the Summer Entertainment lineup 2012 and 2013, and have played several corporate events including shows for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
In the summer of 2012 they were featured on CBC Radio’s North By Northwest, as live in-studio guests on Shaw TV’s Urban Rush, and as anthem singers at a Vancouver Canadians baseball game. They also taped an episode of Shaw TV’s The Proposal in which they were the featured musical act. August brought a trip to Nashville with performances at The Bluebird Café, The Commodore and Puckett’s among others. They were also invited to perform at a high profile ‘house concert’ in Franklin where they met several top Nashville songwriters. Upon returning home to BC they performed the anthems before crowds of several thousand at the Pacific Coliseum for Vancouver Giants games, creating quite a buzz with their harmonious pitch perfect a capella renditions of The Star Spangled Banner and O Canada.
Their summertime outdoor performances at Granville Island have led directly to a number of invitations to play indoor full concert performances. These have included the likes of the Good Day Sunshine and Small Ritual Cafes in White Rock, Bistro 72 in Surrey and private corporate functions in Vancouver for War Room Productions and Kearns Law Firm. Alanna and Brianne were also featured at pre-Christmas fundraisers for Night of Miracles at the Pinnacle Hotel and Festival of Trees at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Songwriting has become part of a busy daily routine for these young artists. In late 2012 they went to Nashville again to attend a workshop at The Bluebird Café as well as further mentoring sessions with established Nashville writers. They are scheduled to return to Nashville in August 2013 for several ‘writers rounds’. They have been recording and posting their originals as well as select cover tunes on their YouTube channel. Further, their latest single “Dear Mr. Right” will be available on iTunes in Fall 2013. They have very recently been selected as semifinalists - out of a field of 9000 comprising entrants over 100 countries - in an "Unsigned Only" competition based in Nashville. More locally, too, they were 1st place winners in the 2013 Diamond In The Rock Contest in Surrey British Columbia following several rounds of competition and live performances.
The summer of 2014 is already proving to be a busy one with several live performances scheduled including Canada Day and Sea Festival celebrations at White Rock beach, The Aldergrove Fair, Queensborough Children's Festival and Summer Sizzle series and Ocean Park Days.
The girls continue to develop their instrumental range on guitar, banjo and mandolin, working with White Rock stringmeister Rick Leather and Vancouver vocal coach Judith Rabinovitch.
Alanna and Brianne deliver solid rhythmic acoustic performances laced with their mesmerizing vocal harmonies and bubbling over with youthful energy, originality and beauty.
