Tristan / Bio

Tristan is an indie folk rock musician from Asheville, North Carolina who writes and performs his original songs throughout the US. Tristan is fully bilingual, speaking native French and writing songs in both French and English.

Tristan was born December 2nd, 1986 in Waco, Texas and learned to love music immediately thereafter; He took piano lessons in Elementary school but that didn’t take. While working as a firefighter for Americorps*NCCC in Alabama, and after having been inspired by a Keith Urban concert, Tristan bought his first guitar from a pawn shop on February 6, 2006, but what seemed an impulse buy turned heads that same afternoon when his team leader Ryan Lewis taught him his first 5 chords to the song “Country Roads” by John Denver. Later that night, Tristan wrote his first song “Miracle” which is about his younger sister and her bravery.

When asked about growing up, Tristan says…

“My father was a rock star for several years as a teenager and into his twenties performing French and English songs in his hometown of Toulouse in the South of France. My mother has a wonderful singing voice but has not been a performer in that way.”

“The first CD I ever bought was Rush Street by Richard Marx. I remember dancing around the living room in my underwear rocking out to Mr. Marx and to this day. I remember the words to every song on that album.”

Tristan grew up listening to a massive and diverse combination of revolutionaries in French and English from each decade of bands and songwriters. Some artists he remembers most vividly are: The Beatles, Foreigner, Queen, Journey Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Enya, Savage Garden, Fever Tree, Michel Sardou and Polnareff
