Kay Lane is interested in composing music off the cuff, believing once a song is written on paper it's not inside anymore. Unwritten, unrehearsed, sarcastic, political, and emotional are fitting words to describe the music found here, most of it being done in one jam session with a microphone in her bedroom.The songs here are considered practice leading up to one great song that remains unwritten. In the coming years she hopes to be able to put together a more concrete and high quality album, by carefully composing music instead of winging it. She just started studying classical voice and piano to grow as an artist, so when she does put out a real CD she expects it to be highly original inspiring, and well crafted, though music for her is just the residue of other artistic endeavors. It is a means to sketch out ideas for poetry, paintings, sculptures and performance pieces. What is found on this music page is experimentation, scraps, practice. Her life goal is to write one great song, until then she hasn't written anything at all. The music here is not everyone's cup of tea but those who like it are the ones who get it.
