Currently working on an independent release of the first album under Matt Walberg & The Living Situation due Spring 2014, Matt Walberg is also a NSAI member as well as a regular volunteer with the Nashville chapter of Musicians On Call.
Raised in Southern California by parents Paul and Cassie Walberg who both worked as entertainers with Ice Follies, Paul continued work as a music producer for various clients most notably Jim Henson. Matt was introduced at an early age to the stage and bright lights as he and brother Christopher Walberg both pursued acting careers during their childhood. It wasn’t until High School that music became an interest and career path. Matt was a part of the first place 2001 SPEBSQSA Far-West District High School Barbershop Quartet "Sings With The Fishes."
Matt made the move to Tennessee in 2002 and attended MTSU for two years studying Recording Industry Management. During that time, Matt was a part of the school's first NSAI student chapter as well as frontman for the acoustic rock band The Hollywood Band. A turning point for Matt Walberg was while working with a potential producer, he was advised to hire musicians for the entire album including his own guitar parts. Matt did not move forward with the producer and instead worked towards becoming one of "those" musicians.
In 2004, Matt's brother Christopher moved in with him and they began the band H-Beam, at that time a jam band. Family influence helped force the move to the Nashville city limits where both brothers continued playing and co-producing their band H-Beam until 2011 when Christopher moved back out to the West Coast to pursue other musical endeavors. Matt continues to front and produce H-Beam under the alter-ego "Banana Matt" and has developed H-Beam into a weirdo rock theatrical experience.
In 2012, Matt was reacquainted with guitarist and family friend Bill Neale who helped Matt gain employment at the rock n' roll lifestyle store "Two Old Hippies" where he became aquatinted with both owners Tom and Molly Bedell. His work with artists, instrument manufacturers, and hands on acoustic instrument specialization encouraged Matt to go back to his acoustic roots. Befriending fellow co-workers and musicians from past projects, Matt began work on the roots rock project Matt Walberg & The Living Situation.
