Born and raised in the shadow of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Ben Schlabach writes honest songs about the important things in his life. His driving folk tunes are laden with personal adventure and tales of family, friends, and gals. Expanding on the lo-fi folk elements of Schlabach's first cassette, "They Grow up so Fast,” Uncle Bengine and the Retraining Orders have shifted settings from the front porch to a dimly lit, alcohol drenched basement. Expanding on the thoughts and stories that continually swirl through his conscious, Schlabach presents his dialogue in a realm somewhere between fantasy and a late night bar room conversation.
Uncle Bengine and the Restraining Orders are a four piece made up of Ben Schlabach (guitar, vocals) Jason Summer (pedal steel, vocals) Megan Tiller (upright bass) and Todd Yoder (drums).
