Day 2 / Bio

"Day"2 is a group of experienced musicians that have played venues from Deep Ellum in Dallas and 6th Street in Austin to State Street in Mad City and the Village in New York City. But the Triangle is their home, and they’re hittin’ it from all sides: The Flip Side in Clayton and the Aversboro Restaurant in Garner; Doherty’s Irish Pub and Mac’s Tavern in Cary; The Tavern and Papa Mojo’s in Durham; Amra’s, Fat Daddy’s and Scooter’s in Raleigh, to name a few. Capital City Bikefest and Ray Price’s 30th Anniversary, too.

"Day2" specializes in classic rock songs by your favorite artists that are a step off the main highway: tunes that you might have even forgotten about. And we just might throw in a few surprises that you haven’t heard before!

"Day2’s" popularity stems from the fact that they don’t just play the music they love: they love to play the music they love. That kind of enthusiasm is contagious! It’s contagious enough that sometimes fans can’t help but dive into the action. Whether it’s grabbing a couple of the band’s shakers and groovin’ to the beat or jumping up on stage to sit in for a tune, they like to get involved.

"Day2’s" unique set list and their high energy performances combine to ensure a memorable entertainment experience for your club or event. No doubt about it: they’ll be dancing and singing all night long!

Al McSwain, on Lead Guitar and Vocals, lends his pearls of wisdom through tasty licks, earthy vocals, and a ready smile. Whether it’s a ZZ Top rockabilly blues romp or the twang of a Dire Straights storyline, Al’s strings bring the point across, with just the right amount of cool...

Steve Morris adds color to the canvas with his formidable Rhythm Guitar and Vocals. Whether he’s sexing up the backbeat or belting out harmony, Steve finds the right thing to say or play at just the right time. Believe it or not, he does it all with a ready smile, and we love him for it. So will you…

Doug Kobs is, quite simply, a madman on the Keyboards, and it definitely shows. Trained at the University of North Texas, this guy puts everything he’s got into everything he’s got. Whether it’s jazz or rock or funk or whatever-you-wanna-hear, Doug’s there for you. And he’s there for you very enthusiastically...

Dana Trantham breathes Bass. From rockabilly soul to cheesy 70’s funk, no matter what his fingers are plucking, you can’t help but move: the groove is just too good to pass up. Dana’s heart-felt Vocals on tunes like “Stormy Monday” will have you reaching for a smoke, no matter how many years ago you quit. This man’s got talent: a lot of it…

Joe Koon was born with sticks in his hands. We figure that’s the only explanation as to why he’s able to sing Lead Vocals and play the Drums at the same time. Joe can ride a cymbal all the way through “Riders on the Storm” without missing a beat, and we all love him for it! Joe’s determination and chops are surpassed only by the size of his heart. It’s just huge...
