KinG: Cameroon born, Maryland raised is an independent artist who's musical journey began long before he ever sought to do it professionally. In elementry school he was a member of honors chorus and wrote his first song in hopes of forming a singing group by the name Destiny's Children. Thankfully he scrapped that idea. Growing up in an African household in America changed the way he viewed and listened to music.
"I listened to a lot of weird music growing up, I still do, the type of music that people look at you in shock like 'why do you listen to that?'. I remember some of the first CD's I purchased was from that 99 cents for like 5 or 10 CD's thing with my moms assistance (credit card). A lot of it was really raw vulgar stuff like DMX and Eminem, not all of it but those are the ones I remember most. Thanks mom. I've never discriminated when it comes to musical genres and I think I have my background to thank for that. Music is music to me I like songs from an array of different genres."
KinG enjoys songs from artists such as Kotto Bass, Billy Joel, Bob Marley, Sizzla, Jimi Hendrix, Florence and The Machine, Hoobastank, Cage The Elephant, Gucci Mane, Nas, Sade, Erykah Badu, UGK, Three Six Mafia and the list goes on.
His main goal as a musician is to build his fan base and tour. "Honestly, I don't care about record sales, I mean I do a little bit no artist wants to flop but my main focus, my true love is live performances. I just want to hit the road, go from city to city and perform my music in front of tons of concert goers. There's just something about that atmosphere that gets to me. I feel alive in a sense."
You can find more of KinG's music on iTunes, SoundCloud and YouTube.
