The Seaons (see-ons) are a young Southern Oregon Indie Rock band playing original songs. Their influences range from Coldplay to Fleet Foxes. In addition, their sound has been characterized as a cross between Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer by some of the more “seasoned” listeners.
The original band was formed initially for the purpose of playing the music written by Sean Siders. Those first songs were the culmination of his high school senior project. That project entailed the production of a six song E.P. “Reaching Out” which was performed, recorded, and mixed entirely by Sean in his home studio (re: his bedroom). That room recently has become another project, King Monty Studios, where Sean now records and mixes professionally for fledgling artists.
Upon the completion of the “Reaching Out” E.P. Sean solicited the help of some of his music friends so that those songs could be performed in the community. They performed under the name Apple Siders and within their first year they recorded their first band E.P. “Sounds Human” and were named as “Artist in Residence” by the prestigious Britt Festivals. In September 2011 the band officially changed their name to THE SEAONS, the result of an accidental misspelling of the word “seasons.”
The Seaons are led by the primary songwriter Sean Siders, who in 2012 completed his sophomore year at Southern Oregon University as a percussion/music major. Sean performs as lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, and as a percussionist. He is accompanied by lead guitarist and 2011 Southern Oregon’s Got Talent finalist, Micah McCaw. Micah, a 2012 graduate from Cascade Christian High School, also contributes harmony vocals. The newest members of the band make up the rhythm section. Alex Detweiler, a senior at Southern Oregon University, is a multi instrumentalist filling the role as the drummer and harmony vocalist. High School senior Grayson Phelps, the band’s bass player, is also a multi instrumentalist that adds harmony vocals. All four of the band members are song writers, presently working on solo projects in addition to their involvement with The Seaons.
The band’s current project includes the recording and mixing of their first full length album, “Sun Gun”. Demos can be previewed and downloaded at their website http://www.theseaons.com/
