Maestro Curtis / Bio

(All of the music on this page is written, composed, arranged, and produced by Maestro Curtis, [except where indicated [*]) check the "lyrics" link for the credits for each song.)
Maestro Curtis (a.k.a. Maestro Brian, has performed and produced with the “who’s who” of major recording artists – see website: www.stro-ra.com) has music that can be heard on KKSF and KBLX radio formats across the country. He is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer who can play and produce music for any and every genre of music, with a matter of ease. To Maestro music is vibration and to quote him, "if you're good to the music, the music will be good to you."
Maestro’s Jazz/R&B group, Xpression, met critical acclaim with their debut album, Power, which earned the group a Grammy nomination for, Best New Jazz Artist, a Gold Record, and a highly successful international tour.

Prior to the formation of Xpression, Maestro founded a fraternity for jazz musicians, called the Jazz Hieroglyphics, and created a powerful soundtrack titled, Positive Minds, of which he wrote, arranged, and produced. Timothy Alexander White of KBLX went on to describe Maestro and the Jazz Hieroglyphics, “Not in a long time have there been jazz artists more true to jazz idioms than Maestro Brian and the Jazz Hieroglyphics…A glimpse of the past with an exciting push towards the future, a super quilt of Pan Jazzery.” Positive Minds made its way through the music industry grapevine and fell upon the ears of Maurice White, the creator and mastermind of Earth, Wind, & Fire, who sought after Maestro to sign a recording deal under his own, Kalimba Records. Maurice White served as executive producer on Xpression’s album Power, while allowing Maestro creative control as producer; the collaboration was a masterpiece.
Maestro Curtis wrote, composed and arranged all of the music for the Jazz Hieroglyphics and is releasing their new projects, November 4th at a music release celebration at Angelica's Historic Bell Theatre & Bistro in Redwood City, Ca. visit www.stro-ra.com for more details and about you can join him in the fun!
Maestro also co-authored what is now being hailed as the music industry bible, The Art of Producing, available on Amazon.com and major book retailers world wide. www.stro-ra.com
