Mark has been playing jazz and blues music professionally in Kansas City since 1987. Hosting jams and playing sessions, Mark has worked with some of the greatest musicians including the Scamps, a Kansas City dance band that was formed in 1946. Mark was exposed to jazz and blues with a performance by Claude Fiddler Williams, and pianist Jay McShann in 1976. From that time he has been immersed in many styles of music including folk and rock. Mark played with Little Hatch, the Mo City Jumpers and countless jazz gigs as a session bassist. Armed with original material, in 2008, and 2009, he and guitarist Max Berry competed as semi-finalists in the International Blues Competition held annually in Memphis, TN. Joining Enneagram records in 2008, Mark co-produced the CD “Town Topic” and the accompanying You-tube video for the song. Mark’s songs reflect local references, blues, and humor including his “Town Topic” and “Lonely Kansas City Night”.
