Formed in 2008 by Award winning actor and comedian Hal Sparks, ZERO 1 had a lot to prove. Facing an uphill battle for acceptance in the American music scene, The debut album from ZERO 1, produced by dUg Pinnick of King’s X, surprised critics and rock fans alike with powerful songwriting, Heavy riffs and earworm melodies. Songs like She Waits, Mad Season and Helsinki, established Sparks as a legit powerhouse singer and musician.
Now joined by Brian Crow (guitar), Don Bish (drums) & Bumper Renga (bass), ZERO 1 has toured and sold out shows on both coasts at venues like The Viper Room, House Of Blues Sunset Strip, The Roxy, Counts Vamp'd and the Knitting Factory NYC, with fans flying in from as far away as Germany and Australia to see them. The band recently shot their first video for the album for the single, “American Psycho, ”filmed at the historic Houdini Mansion. ZERO 1 will return tot he studio to record their much-anticipated sophomore release The Sacred Nothing late this summer.
ZERO 1 have a great relationship with rock radio all across the United States and an international web presence, with groups of 25,000 fans or more in 19 different countries – and a fan base that’s still growing. Hal Sparks has two radio shows syndicated across the country that he is a regular on that gives him special opportunity to not only play ZERO 1's music but promote live shows as well.
Hal Sparks and ZERO 1 have a unique approach to fan outreach and viral marketing; by streaming live rehearsals and recording sessions as well as shows on Hal’s wildly popular, weekly UStream show, fans across the globe are getting a glimpse of the band they wouldn’t normally get. Through traditional outlets like Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, the band cements their social networking. But in 2013, the band is set to take it to new heights with relationships with UStream.tv, Honda motorcycles, Steaz energy drinks, and Alpine Stars.
The band loans its music, name and live performances to causes it believes in like the Marijuana Policy Project, Farm Sanctuary, the Lilli Claire Foundation and Imagine a Cure.
