Rixon is a multicultural melting pot that has come together to create a unique voice in the musical landscape. Formed in 2009 and built on the ideas of musical integrity, the project has grown to include two albums and a multitude of world class musicians. Each musician has a common thread of being educated at the world renowned Berklee College of Music and uses their specific skill set that they honed to weave their influence around and enhance the core song structures. With many years in and around the business they developed a professional attitude and single-mindedness of purpose; a common goal of striving to be the best band on the planet.
Dan was born in Sarasota, Florida in 1981. Dan began playing guitar in 1996. Through his dedication and love for music he was admitted into the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma. There he rigorously studied music theory and composition. Dan is the founder and heart and soul of Rixon. Dan has performed at the world famous Antone’s in Austin, Texas opening for blues legend Pinetop Perkins. He has also had the pleasure of playing and writing with Grammy award winning hip hop producers Duwaun Parker and Ashanti Floyd. Dan has played with members of Dickey Betts’ band Great Southern and Devon Allman’s Honeytribe.
Dan has been leading Rixon with his singing, guitar playing and songwriting since 2009.
Henri C. Young also known as “Onri” is originally from the beautiful island of Freeport, Grand Bahama , but grew up in Nassau. Onri started playing the bass guitar at the age of 5 and 4 years later got his first taste of performing. He continued to cultivate his talent and hone his skills and made a professional debut when he was 18 years old. Onri then went on to further his eduction in music at Berklee College of Music. In his professional career Onri has been apart of several jazz trios and quintets in The Bahamas, as well as two cover bands that both housed catalogues of the top 40, reggae, funk, r&b and rock. Onri has also worked in Califonia as a part of a two man folk rock band that played mostly original singles.
Onri listens to a variety of artists over a wide list of genres which include : Seal, Bjork, Tori Amos, Dave Matthews, Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Busta Rhymes, John Patitucci, Tool, A Perfect Circle, R.A.P.P.Quelle, The Roots, Lauryn Hill. He also is fond of certain albums released over the years which include: Return Of Saturn – No Doubt, Metasexual – Joydrop, Morning View – incubus and a promotional album given to him by “Shoz-Bot” at a gig they both performed at.
For Onri life is all about playing music for the love of it and for the people that connect with it on any level. He’s said that “Music is a form of tribal magic I think; symbiotic and transcending”.
Onri has been playing bass for Rixon since 2011.
