Josiah Atchley was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. A pastor’s son, he, like his brother and sisters, was homeschooled. Constantly surrounded with a rich history of music and musical instruments, it didn’t take long for him to pick up on his family tradition. He began writing his own material around the age of 17 and by the age of 19 had graduated from the usual coffee shop fare to frequent appearances in clubs, bars, and restaurants. On the edge of leaving the music scene upon his return from a stint in the Marine Corps, Josiah’s curiosity got the best of him. Busking in Market Square one summer afternoon, he met fellow musicians who would help to reignite his determination to follow the music. After playing numerous gigs and open mic nights, Josiah’s tenacity paid off. Music industry veteran Cora Elmore approached the young artist. Believing in Atchley’s raw talent, she offered to finance his first professional recordings.
With the expert direction of Grammy-nominated producer Travis Wyrick of Lakeside Studios and a slew of talented local artists, he released the Scoundrel EP. The final piece of this soulful music puzzle came with the fateful formation of his supremely skilled band, The Greater Good. Josiah now continues his musical career with a fantastic band behind him, a professional online presence, and a group of loving and loyal fans supporting his every move. Josiah Atchley plans for nothing less than a successful musical career. Join him and The Greater Good on their journey. Be a part of something HUGE. Follow and support this talented young artist! Scoundrel EP is available for purchase on itunes and Amazon and for free streaming on Spotify.
