Taylor McLain is a seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter from Somerville, Alabama with a passion for music. She was recently named the Traditional Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year by the North American Country Music Association International. Taylor plays classical guitar and plays guitar and also sings in the band Cotaco Creek with bandmates Jerry Grantland, Betty Grantland, Joby Grantland and Pete Miller. This well established bad performs a variety of music from traditional country to popular music.
Taylor also an extensive background in theatre portraying roles such a Bette in Oliver! Tuptim in the King and I, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof ,and portrayed the title character in the Little Match Girl among other roles.
Taylor and her musical partner, Joby Grantland began recently working early this summer on blues/jazz songs that will be recorded and released later this year. She will always be featured along with eleven other artists on a new compilation album entited "Alabama Women of Blues" and will be playing shows to promote this project with the other ladies this fall.
Taylor sings country, the blues, pop, jazz, gospel and started out studying opera at the age of nine. She has been the recipient of over twenty awards for her singing and songwriting over the past four years.
