Summer More Than Others / Bio

Summer More Than Others is a jazz infused, tropical flavored, jam-band from Atlanta, Ga. Formed officially in the summer of 2010, the band is a collaboration between Adam Clifford and Matt Hummel. After releasing their self-titled acoustic debut EP in 2010, SMTO began work on their full-band follow-up.

In May of 2011, they got the opportunity to play during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival in Florida. After that time the band went through some line-up changes, adding Ian Edwards on bass, and played extensively throughout Atlanta. Toward the end of the year, the band finished recordings on what would be their first LP called "The Constant".

2012 was a year of progress for the band. They became regulars at Atlantic Station's "Friday Night Live" series (a summer of free concerts outside in the heart of Atlanta). They traveled more, playing shows in Tennessee, Alabama, as well as Florida again, all to great audience response and enthusiasm.

In November, SMTO was the featured act on the University of Georgia's radio/television program "It's Friday" for WUGA Radio. Also in November, the band was invited back to play the main stage at Atlantic Station's Black Friday Bash where the band performed a two-hour set for hundreds of people.

SMTO is repeatedly praised for their unique sound and style. They have been described as "Phish meets The Police", but that doesn't quite define them. The sounds of the islands permeate Adam's songs, met with a progressive low-end by Ian and the worldly influences in Matt's drumming, all mix together to give Summer More Than Others a voice all their own.
