Eme and Heteru
When it comes to live music, Eme and Heteru have a well-deserved reputation as quality musicians and compelling performers. Their music effortlessly joins the dots between Africa's modern rhythms, Reggae music and DC's Hip-Jazz pulse. Described as “electrifying” by Huffingtonpost, the band has featured with Kiara Arby, Chuck Fender and Sister Carole to mention a few. Awarded 2014 Atlas Performing Artists, the group says it draws inspiration from community and identifies with music as a change agent. Last June they campaigned to end Child Marriage. Featured regularly at the Smithsonian's “ Africa Underground”, and having just returned from a successful, double performance at Brown University’s honoring of late author and activist, Chinua Achebe, their music continues to entertain, educate and attract new fans.
