From laid back island sounds to high energy tropical themed rock the seven piece band Trop Rock Junkies set the standard for the musical genre called trop rock. Thanks to artists like Jimmy Buffett, Kenney Chesney, Alan Jackson and the Zac Brown Band, this style of music has a growing popularity among fans of all ages. There recent performance at a Jimmy Buffett concert in Tampa Florida has elevated their status to new levels and increased the demand for this up and coming band.
In November 2009 lead singer Steve Tolliver, finished his CD “Songs in the Key of West” and set out to put together a band to promote the album. What he ended up with was some of the most talented musicians and singer/songwriters in the Tampa Bay area who just happened to have a love for this kind of music.
By April of 2010 the band performed their first concert/CD release party to an enthusiastic standing room only crowd at the Hideaway Café, a music venue in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. The seven piece band has focused on playing larger festivals and events, but also performs as a duo, trio and 5 piece band for smaller venues. Notable performances have been Geckofest in Gulfport, Florida, The 4th of July Great American Cookout at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg, Florida, The Hideaway Café 1st Anniversary Party and a live on air interview in Key West on KONK AM 1500 Radio.
