Chemical Tree is an American rock band formed in Dallas, Texas in the spring of 2005, consisting of Steve Russell (lead vocals), David Utorka (guitar, vocals), and John Howser (bass, keyboards, vocals). All three musicians have come from a collectively diverse history of projects, stemming from progressive rock, death and speed metal, hard rock, jazz, and country music - and they use their considerable pallet of influences to create a perfect balance of so many diverse musical tastes. Their debut album, Chemical Tree, was released in the spring of 2010, under their own label, Gobotronics Records, and they are managed by Helmer Management based out of Virginia. The band has filmed appearances for KTXA’s All Jack’d Up, and have been a part of the IN THE PIT FOR THE PIT animal rescue music festival series, put on by Steve Helmer, President of Helmer Management and filmed for Animal Planet’s Pit Bulls and Parolees. Featured on 97.1 KEGL FM’s Loud & Local music program, hosted by Angela Chase, the lead actress in Chemical Tree’s first video for the first single off of their debut album, Gun To My Head, the band has a visceral presence both musically and visually. In January 2014 drummer J Jay Johnson joined the band replacing outgoing member Randy Lovvorn. The band is gearing up to release a new EP featuring the final songs written with Lovvorn and new music featuring J Jay is already in the mix. Chemical Tree is an established touring band whose members have all performed across the United States in front of crowds of all sizes.
