Broke Bridge is a string band that applies Americana instrumentation to irresistible original songs. It’s been called grass ‘n’ roll. A little bluegrass, a little rock ‘n’ roll. Selected covers make the band’s sets accessible while its own songs carry crowds on a musical joyride. Broke Bridge was recently a featured performer at Swallow Hill in Denver and on the main stage at Longmont Oktoberfest.
The band formed in late 2010 over scotch in a dining room in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood. It soon came to specialize in up-tempo jams and three-part harmonies, and it proved to be a great vehicle for guitarist Quentin Young’s songs. The lineup includes Grant Van Pelt on mandolin, Ryan Herbst on banjo and harmonica, and Stacy Liles on upright bass. Fiddler Lucia Thomas frequently joins the band.
The group has been collecting fans on the Colorado Front Range and has performed at local clubs, upscale cocktail parties, hippie bars, festivals, weddings and on the street.
