This represents a collection of songs taken from other completed recordings throughout my career as a guitarist. It represents what I feel or think best represents me, out of what songs are available to me or in my possession. They are not the best recordings, the best of or greatest hits.
Song 1. “I NEED YOUR LOVE” - Written by Myself and Copyright dated in 1982. I was doing solo recordings and events at this time. It was recorded at a 24 track studio in the west LA area. Three guitar tracks were recorded. All guitars on this Profile are of me playing all of the guitar parts, except where noted. It is me singing the lead vocal too. With Kim Norton and Chrissy Hall singing back up vocals, a drummer named Gary Bogan and a bassist, Dave Hazelet. Hand claps were done by the drummer, bassist and myself. All else is me.It has been played on many radio stations and was used for a sound track to a commercial. I used many different names besides my real name. “TURBO”, “FINGERS”, “ABC” (Austin, Bob and Chris. My second band in the 60’s). Laughing HARD now! “CHAIN REACTION” (my first band in the 60’s) to name a few. Now I go by “AWESOME AUSTIN”.
Song 2. “LADY FINE” - Written by the singer (Keith Deen) and I around 1979/80. Copyright dated in 1980. The band was called “LUST”. Just a singer, drummer (Liam Jason, also known as Jackie Enxs), bassist (Richard Sanchez) and myself. Two guitar tracks were laid down. The introduction was back ground music on a radio commercial. The song is mainly about the singers girlfriend who just moved back to London, forced by her parents. He misses her now. Our Last gig at the “BLA BLA CAFE” in Studio City, CA around 1982. Liam became the drummer for “Rhino Bucket”, with 3 or 4 albums out now.
Song 3. “ROLL AWAY” - Writing and Copyright credits are the same as “LADY FINE” as well as the next few songs. The same players, except Liam. The drummer was different for just this one song. A guy named Craig (I forget his last name), played the drums on this one. Liam had quit and Craig played with us for about 6 months. Then we got rid of Craig and Liam (Jackie) came back for a few more months. About 30 seconds of the solo was used for a TV and Radio commercial.
Song 4. “FIRST TIME” - One of our anthems or closing songs. Writing and Copyright credits are again the same as songs 2 and 3. Liam is back in
on drums. The ending was also used for the same radio ad. It’s obvious what this song is about. One of my personal favorite originals written by Keith and myself.
Song 5. “QUEEN OF DIAMONDS” - Written around 1976/77, but with the Copyright credits and date the same as songs 2, 3, and 4. Recorded in the same studio as the “BLUE OYSTER CULT”, “AGENTS OF FORTUNE” album, around 1976/77. If I remember right, it was recorded in a 16 track studio. Listen to the solo! Three guitar parts on this song. Each guitar part is totally different too!
Song 6. “GRAINS OF SAND” - Keith and I wrote this one around the same time frame of 1976/77. But this one has a Copyright date of 1977. It to was recorded in the same studio as mentioned above. It is my first attempt at playing two acoustic guitar parts with two over laying electric guitar parts. First acoustic is finger picking. The second one is playing gentle rhythms behind the finger picking dub. While the first electric is playing hard metal edge rhythm, the second electric is playing the solo’s and fills.
Song 7. “FAITH” - One more written by Keith and I around 1976. Copyright dated 1977. Same band members, but recorded live in our rehearsal studio during practice on a Teac four track reel to reel tape unit. This one was also one of our early anthems or closing songs. During this period, one of my favorite originals. One major problem occurred during mixing this song to a master tape. The tape broke right before the bridge (solo) and the balance of the tape had gotten chewed up beyond salvage. So we could only fade the song after the second chorus. Missing out on the song is the bridge, solo, tempo change, third verse, chorus and a very strong ending.
Song 8. “LISTEN TO THE WORDS” - Written by myself and Copyright dated in 1983. Recorded at Mikes Music and Sound in Redding, CA. By my band of the time “TRUE FORM”. I really like “LISTEN TO THE WORDS”. It is a popular slow dance favorite when played live. I sang on this song. But it really needed a Good Singer. Lol!
