Lead Singer Dean Fairhurst and lead guitarist Louis Menguy, both originating from the Warrington/Greater Manchester area, began formulating their own band after leaving high school in 2006. After being informed by the careers officer that the only place they were bound for was, either the building site or the dole queue, they took it upon themselves to form, what would be, the enigmatic Rock & Roll band, Slydigs.
In their live performances, Slydigs have managed to ensnare not only the belle époque of the Northern Music Scene, but have also captured beautifully their origins and influences to produce what can only be described as “the most charismatic, modern day live act” out there today!
The bands’ influences range from the Rolling Stones to the Clash and take many values from the bands of the 1960’s and 1970’s. They also take influences from the likes of Bob Dylan, Charles Bukowski and the great Jack Keruac. Their music is a refinement and reinvention of modern day Rock & Roll.
Having already supported the likes of the iconic New York Dolls, The Fall, Alabama 3, Pete Doherty, Idlewild, The Rifles, Slydigs are no strangers to the live scene, both indoor and festivals alike. It is there, in the venues and festivals across the UK & Ireland, that they have refined their distinctive sound.
2012 was the year that Slydigs signed to FLICKNIFE RECORDS and the release of their Debut Album, ‘Never To Be Tamed’ happened on September 24th 2012. Frenchy Gloder, (Flicknife MD) says
“Slydigs are the most exciting band we have signed in the last 20 years”
March 2013 saw the band embark on mini UK tour to promote the album and new single.
