The Hursts / Bio

The Hursts are an American rock band formed in early 2010 in Los Angeles to explore the combination of musical eras and genres. Poised to prove that one thing IS thicker than water, Donna Hurst and Eric Hurst came together musically with the interplay and imagination that co-mingles rock and roll, blues, rockabilly and folk ballads in such a way that portends the second coming of album oriented rock.
Singer/songwriter and front person Donna Hurst delivers each line with a raspy, smoky transparency. We feel every note to the soul. She toured internationally with all girl rock band sensation Rare Illusion with sibling, Julie Hurst, on drums. Donna has been crafting songs since she was thirteen. She has toured tirelessly and recorded extensively with artists that include Vixen, Ralph Carter (Eddie Money), Guy Marshall, Guy Mann-Dude, producer/writer Curt Cuomo (Kiss), Tony Franklin (White Snake, Jimmy Page, The Firm) and Matt and Greg Bissonette (David Lee Roth Band).
Eric Hurst (The Arm) is lead guitarist, backing vocalist and contributing songwriter for The Hursts. Eric has an extremely broad sweeping taste in music and pulls from many influences. He played with St. Louis area bands including DPF and L.A. bands Funeral Director and Red Roses. The Arm moved to Los Angles in 2004 and attended the Musician’s Institute for Audio Recording and Engineering. He has since engineered for The Slighted, Red Roses, and The Spitz.
Their irresistibly rockin’ and highly anticipated debut album “The Hursts” will be released in the fall of 2011 and feature a ballsy “Wilder Nights” track of insatiable party nights…”if there were points for style…it was wild”! Tattoo that on your chest! On the softer side, “When I Lay Me Down” which is an intimate tale of “I want to tell you how much I love you but I can’t find the words” goes for the heartstrings instead of the jugular.
