MAW is an all-woman, old-timey string band from Lawrence, KS, singing songs of murder, mules, mining, morphine, mayhem, pirates, and chewing gum.
MAW took the stage for the first time in late 2006 and has been having a blast playing shows all over the Midwest ever since, whether at big parties, bars, festivals, or on the sidewalk.
Their shows are part hoedown and part hootenanny. Set lists are a mix of traditional favorites and originals, and they sing them all in the style of an old-time radio show, crowded around a single condenser mic.
Their first CD, Advice for the Young and Foolish, was released in 2009 and received good reviews locally as well as on Bluegrass Unlimited and in the Old Time Herald. It is now being played on radio stations around the U.S. and in Europe. Their second CD, Pit of Desire, is now available!
