David Longoria is undeniably one of the world's most exciting trumpetists. His music bridges generations and genres. Combining Jazz with Dance, Latin and Rythmic Pop has been a formula he has made his trademark. He is known for his performances and productions of numerous successful recordings in all genres of commercial music. David's work has graced the works of artists including Sting, U2, George Michael, Annie Lennox, Cece Peniston, Boys II Men, UB-40, Foreigner, General Public, Aretha Franklin, and many others.
David's Instrumental Dance/Pop single "Zoon Baloomba" climbed to #21 on the US Billboard Chart. It made Billboard chart history as it is the first instrumental trumpet song to become a national hit on the chart since 1979 when Music Icon Herb Alpert did it with his classic "Rise". Additionally, the music video for Zoon Baloomba has already gathered more than 3 million views on YouTube.
2014 has been a busy year for David. He performed at New York's world famous premier convert venue, Carnegie Hall. The sold out concert presented David along with Grammy nominee Vincent Lyn, (jazz piano) and award winning South African flautist Wouter Kellerman. Another notable concert was the Grammy Museum Clive Davis Theater performance where David and Wouter Kellerman were joined by South African and American musicians and even a 25 piece a capella group called Rockin A Capella. The live concert was taped to air on PBS and public TV stations in 2015 in a new special called "David Longoria and Friends Live From The Grammy Museum".
The Hollywood FAME Awards awarded David Longoria their Hollywood Star award along with Prime Time actors Charlene Tilton (Dalas), Linda Blair (The Exorsist), Danny Trejo (Maschete), John Savage (The Deer Hunter) and Katherine Castro (The Social Experiment).
David Longoria was awarded the ALL THAT JAZZ AWARD from the ASYM (American Society Of Young Musicians) in November 2010. Past recipients of this prestigious award have included Quincy Jones, Stanley Clarke and Chris Botti. He shared the awards event with fellow recipients for 2010 Engelbert Humperdinck, Billy Ray Cyrus, Kool And The Gang, Jenni Rivera and Master P.
David and his cast of 40 performers presented a live concert at the OC Pavailion (Orange County Pavilion) in Santa Ana, California where they taped a TV Special (60 minute ad 90 minute versions) to broadcast nationally on PBS Stations. The colorful and well received show featured many International stars including Jimena (Mexico), Therese Neaime (Dubai), April Diamond (US) Juliet B. Rock (US) Latisha (US) and 5 Star (US). The TV Special is currently airing on more than 85 stations across the US through 2015.
David's new album "BAILA!" is now available in the US and Europe. The first single from the album, a pop dance song titled DEEPER LOVE features David and R&B/dance diva CECE PENISTON as they sing together this dance/edm track. The song sports a haunting trumpet line whose infectious melody will linger long after the song ends. This single climbed to number 14 on the USA Billboard Chart and has topped the European Dance and pop charts in several countries. The second single from BAILA! is a contemporary Jazz song called Loving Life. It features English jazz guitarist Chris Standring along with David. The music video for the single was filmed at the World Famous Vitello's Jazz Club in Studio City, California. The video has gathered more than half a million views on YouTube to date. Also featured on the upcoming album is a David Longoria original piece titled A CASTLE IN SPAIN, which features the guest performance of guitar great OTTMAR LIEBERT along with David.
It was this collaboration that garnered David a nomination for Best Instrumental performance and song on the Hollywood Music Awards. He performed his next new single live on worldwide TV with his band on the televised show from the Kodak Theater complex in Hollywood. The show is scheduled to air in the US in July (on ABC). David was awarded the Hollywood Music Award for "Best Instrumental Artist" on the show. David was very happy to receive the award saying, "I am so proud to be recognized by this prestigious awards panel. When I think of all the great instrumental artists from Carlos Santana to Kenny G., and even Chris Botti, I am honored to be nominated and of course to win the award."
David was trained as a classical trumpetist before discovering jazz - which opened up the world of improvisation to his music. He excelled as a soloist, performing with orchestras and bands throughout the world. His songwriting, productions and performing have brought him to work with many of the best musical artists of our time. His talents have been tapped by artists from virtually every genre of music from Pop and R&B to Jazz, Flamenco and Rock. He is as at home with a slamming Dance track as he is with an Jazz/R&B groove or a Blues jam.
