Dr. Reefer was originally the brainchild of epileptic medical cannabis patient Ken Kirk, former Leader of the Marijuana Party of Alberta, and Miss Ganja Soldier, photo-bug extraordinaire. Ken is now the only permanent member of Dr. Reefer. Ken wrote all the music and most of the lyrics for the songs featured here while in incarceration for medical cannabis in 1998-1999 (lyrics for "Let's Stand Up For Our Rights" written by Miss Ganja Soldier). Ken later produced and engineered an album featuring these songs called "Love Songs From Drug Prison". The album was finally released in 2011. Kirk first received an "Exemption From Prosecution" from Health Canada to possess & grow medical marijuana back in 2001. He then lawfully defied the exemption and the fraudulent usurped Canadian government and grew 171 plants in the display window of his hemp shop located across the street from the main Alberta Provincial Courthouse in Alberta's capital city Edmonton. Ken Kirk has been 100% successful at defeating every marijuana charge he's applied his efforts to since, which earned him the reputation as "the guy that beat the pot laws."
