Nesta Rae has just released her debut album entitled Fly Free. The album was released in July 2011 and chronicles Nesta's journey of letting go of the past in order to make room for the future. "It's about embracing the unknown." states Nesta. The release of Fly Free signifies the end of a chapter and the beginning of an adventure. "I've really tried to get comfortable with understanding it's not always the destination that matters but being present everyday while life is happening." she says. "It was a huge leap of faith to make this album and at times I had no idea how it was really all going to turn out. But I know I love the songs and that's all that really matters now."

Born and raised in Northern California the album has a beachy, acoustic pop vibe, highlighted with a little reggae, and underscored with a few darker melodic ballads. "The ocean has always been an inspirational element in my life. I wanted this album to feel like a warm campfire after a day of surfing. You have a sense of calm as you just let the stories wash over you." says Nesta.
It would be a week in Nashville with fellow song writers Scott Krippayne, Kent Hooper, and Ron Robinson that the majority of the songs featured on the album would be given life, including the title track Fly Free. "The song really tells the story of coming to a place where I knew I had to follow my heart and my dreams. I have always been a free spirit and the song is really about giving yourself permission to be true to yourself." Rae says. "Now I'm just ready to get this show on the road!" Nesta declares.
