It’s immediately evident at a Windy Hill show that the band is excited about bluegrass music and has big fun picking and singing. Named after the golden hill in Portola Valley, CA that separates the SF Bay Area from the Pacific Ocean, Windy Hill is the new face of bluegrass on the West Coast. With their strong harmony singing, original songwriting and hard-driving banjo, Windy Hill is becoming increasingly well-known – and are winning awards – for their entertaining performances.
Chosen as the California showcase band at the 2012 Grass Valley Bluegrass Festival, Winner of the 2011 Northwest String Summit Band Competition in Oregon, and Winner of the 2010 Emerging Artist of the Year at Bluegrassin’ In the Foothills Festival, Windy Hill has recorded two full-length albums. Released in May 2013, Windy Hill's second album “Lonesome Garbage Man” features 18 high-powered original tunes that run the gamut of bluegrass styles. The band has toured the entire West Coast, winning diverse audiences from Lake Havasu, Arizona to Seattle, as well as tours in Colorado and Ohio.
