Leon has worked hard his entire life. Loved singing anywhere and everywhere he could. "Sometimes things have to be torn down to the foundation to be fixed and rebuilt" Leon says of the rocky road he traveled over the past few years. He spent his time writing songs about his life to escape but never shared them. At the bottom of his rope and ready to fall his best friend Shaun Fulco talked him into entering a singing competition in Tennessee. Reluctant and no confidence from everyone saying he wasn't good enough he entered....and won! Leon qualified for the nationals in Tennessee where he won two awards and was nominated for songwriter of the year for his song, "Bottle of Whiskey". Shortly after the awards he won in the North American Country Music Association International in March 2011 Leon picked up a guitar for the first time ever and began to learn chords. Within 3 months he was playing in front of audiences and singing songs he wrote. "It amazes me that the help of one friend who cares so much about you can lead you out of despair with one simple action and in such a short time." Leon says of his friend and singing partner Shaun.
In only a few months after the natonal competition with the help of an amazing musician and engineer, Brad Martin at Silver Wings Recordings, Leon's songs are coming to life.
Leon's Debut CD "NEVER NO MORE" was released in February 2012.
Leon won 2012 Songwriter of The Year for his song off of his debut CD "Set Em Up Boys" When asked what was the inspiration behind the song Leon chuckled and said "I needed two more songs on my CD and wanted a drinking song and a military tribute song on the CD. So he sat down and started writing while Katie Cox sat down at the same time and started writing "Boys of Yesterday". Within 20 minutes we exchanged papers and decided they would go on the debut CD." The next few days Leon put a melody to the song and the rest is history.
Leon also won 2012 Co Songwriter of The Year for the song "Boys of Yesterday" in the 2012 North American Country Music Association national competition
