Estafets / Bio

Es`ta`fet´
n. 1. A courier who conveys messages to another courier; a military courier sent from one part of an army to another.

Estafets are the frankenstein of bands, encompassing post-punk, grunge, and metal to create otherworldly sounds. Founded in the small western Washington town of Sequim, the band has been terrorizing the Seattle music scene since 2010.

Seattle was only the beginning, as the band went on to tour places like Portland, Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area, Hollywood, and San Diego. And they’re freaking people out to this day. Why, you may ask? Well, Estafets are the sound of rabid youth biting the head off of genre confinement. With influences ranging from The Damned to Gojira, Estafets incorporate the energy and anger of punk with the menace of grunge and metal.

Estafets started as an alternative band, mainly influenced by 90’s grunge like Nirvana, but evolved into a more aggressive, existential sound as members came and went. Jordan, bassist and co-founder of Estafets, is the only original member left. His style, influenced by Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, is comprised of crunchy, melodic riffs that accompany guitarist Annie’s complex playing style, like the fitting of two puzzle pieces. Annie became another permanent fixture in the band, as no other candidate was as vocally dynamic, or able to sing and play guitar. Jesse came into the picture in 2012, originally jamming on guitar with the line-up at the time. With the departure of Estafets’ original drummer, Jesse, a veteran of abusing drum heads, stepped in as a permanent drummer.

With Jesse’s thunderous drumming, Jordan’s pulsating bass, Annie’s haunting vocals and intricate guitar parts, Estafets’ style became the monster of multi-genre composition that it is today. Songs that question one’s reality, societal hierarchy, and tribulation, create an atmosphere of curiosity and introspection. Estafets are a new breed of sound, and they will continue searching for their own meaning in modern music.
