Mike 'Trem' Junewicz is originally from the Philadelphia area, but has also lived in Cleveland, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, and Bedford, England. He began playing bass guitar at the age of 12, and later was a bassist/vocalist in a short-lived punk band. When the band broke up, he took to the acoustic guitar and did a solo act of punk and indie rock songs.
Eventually, he was blown away by the early recordings of Billy Bragg, and began doing his solo act with an electric guitar and a classic tone drenched with reverb. By this time, he had taken up surfing in Los Angeles and also appreciated instrumental surf rock which often featured the same guitar tone. After returning to Philadelphia, he studied and began playing instrumental surf rock covers of Dick Dale, The Ventures, The Pyramids, and the Chantays. He also began writing originals in this style, and played them out regularly at open mic nights, gigs, and busking sessions in Philadelphia and the vicinity. At this point, he began using a loop pedal and octave pedal bass to give his performances and recordings more of a full band sound.
Mike is currently living and playing in the Cleveland area. He is working on recordings for an EP of his instrumental surf rock originals. The 'Falling Tide EP' is set to release in 2012.
